OT Survey Results, Policy Recommendations& General Meeting Notice
Dear Members,
First and foremost, thank you to everyone who participated in our 2026 Overtime Pilot Program Survey. Your participation provided us with the clear, data-backed foundation we needed to stand up for your working conditions, your time, and your health.
Taking Your Voice Directly to Management
Equipped with your direct feedback, SJPDA leadership recently met with Jenn Hern and Deputy Chief Dwyer. During this meeting, we presented the survey results to ensure they heard your experiences firsthand. Additionally, we formally submitted five comprehensive policy recommendations grounded in workplace science and cognitive ergonomics to eliminate administrative "sludge" and improve shift predictability. While more discussion is needed with management, we were pleased that Deputy Chief Dwyer and Jenn Hern reacted positively to our recommendations.
In terms of the survey, the data is clear: A decisive 63.5% of our membership supports the Pilot Program’s equity rule over the legacy policy. However, long approval wait times, dense policy memos, and lack of schedule visibility are driving unnecessary stress. Our recommendations provide management with concrete, non-adversarial fixes to solve these operational bottlenecks without scrapping the progress we've made.
